I have problem connecting to the Internet through my Netgear ADSL modem and Netgear wireless router.
I have a ADSL2+ modem (Netgear DM111G) and 54 Mbps wireless router (Netgear WGR614 v7). The modem was provided by the ISP whereas I bought the router myself. My ISP is Dodo Australia where I have a ADSL2+ connection with a 20GB download limit.
I cannot establish a connection to the Internet through the router. When I plug in the cable from the ADSL2+ modem directly into my computer, the Internet works fine. I have both a Mac and a PC and the Internet works fine on both machines. My connection is configured as DHCP and the modem provides reliable information re IP address, submask, and router number. I have now tried to setup a wireless network (without luck) using a wireless router. The specific problem is weird (Netgear does not understand it or have a solution - yet):
The wireless network is working (all connected Macs or PCs get a router IP number and other related information) and are connected to the router, the wireless router gets information from the ADSL2+ modem including the correct IP address provided by the ISP and correct router number). But I cannot get access to the Internet even though everything seems to be working. If I move the cable from the ADSL2+ modem to one of the LAN ports on the router, I can establish connection to the Internet but only on one single computer (as the IP number from the ISP is simply forwarded to the computer).
Does anyone have a solution to this problem.
Cheers,
Mikael
