The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

How do I perform a hard reset on this modem

Asked by arasburn in Computer Modems, Windows XP Operating System, Windows Vista

Tags: , ,

Hi,

I have bought a Huwaei E220 USB Modem from ebay. I had hoped that I can use my SIM from my work 3G card in this modem.

I have VISTA and when I connected the modem as per istructions it just said installing and ran for hours. After web research I was instructed that early versions of the E220 needed Firmware updates. On the Vodafone website under business support there are full instructions.

Thus I ran the first part, but during the second part the process seemed to break down. (Note all this had to be done on an XP machine as per instructions)

When I connect this now to the Vista machine it does recognise this as Drive F and you can either explore files or let it auto run.

During auto run it does nothing, althought the modem blue light does show (Normally green) and indicates that I am in a 3G signal area.

Thus I tried to repeat the Voda instructions but when I connect it to the XP machine, you cannot see the modem and it does not appear as a device in device manager.

I suspect that I need to hard boot this modem on the XP machine and repeat the vodafone instructions. However as it cant see it I cant do anything.

Any idea how I can resolve this?

Also will I need to know the PIN? Will there be anyway of me finding this out on my corporate laptop.

Really apprecitae any help

Thanks
