Yeah, both on different COM ports, one is on 5 the other is on 6, IRQs are different too.

Browse All TopicsHi,
I need to setup a server with two modem cards installed, both cards are U.S. Robotics V.92 PCI modem cards.
I have them connected to seperate phone lines etc and we used to have them (different modems though) dialing out at the same time to different numbers.
Now though we can only use one of the cards at a time, we can dial out to one customers site on one of the cards but when I try to dial out to another customers site it refuses because the modem/port is already in operation even though it is the first modem that is being used already and not the second one which is what I am trying to use this time around, not sure exactly what is stopping it though.
Both modems work perfectly on their own to which ever sites I want so they are both installed and operating successfully.
Thanks
Ben

Hiya,
Apparently I was led astray in my initial information.
I have now been told that we have ALWAYS had issues using two internal modems at the same time so we are now using an external modem and an internal one, we also have a secondary internal one that comes into play if the first fails.
gitijr, just to answer your question.
Yeah I was definitely using the modems individually, one at a time because I would chose which modem to dial out on.
If I tried to query the modem NOT in use whilst the other was in use then I would get the same response as if I was trying to dial out with it, it would tell me that the port was already in use by another device.
End result is we now have two modems to use and another internal as a failover, thanks for your help anyway guys, any thought and want to help is appreciated.

How does the program you are using "address" the modems? By name or by com port? If by com port, do you have them assigned to different com ports?
