Browse All TopicsI have a Sony Vaio VGN-Z750D with a built in Qualcomm Wireless HS-USB Adapter 9222. The vaio has a Smart-Fi utility that controls the wireless devices built into the system, disables the local wireless adapter when Qualcomm is turned on for Verizon Broadband and vice versa. The Wi-Fi works fine, the issue is with the qualcomm 9222 adapter. I have updated the driver with no change. I have also followed the instructions for reinstalling all software related to the verizon service, including the qualcomm driver, notebook utilities, smart-wi utility, etc as directed by the article explaining the order in which to proceed.
To clarify, the issue is that as soon as you start the VZaccess manager, the Qualcomm adapter will show disabled for a few seconds, being indicated by the status at the bottom bar of VZaccess, and the remove hardware sound. Then after 4 or 5 seconds, you will hear the hardware attached sound, and the status bar will show that it is attempting to connect. After a few seconds, the cycle repeats itself, until you close the VZaccess software.
I have found that using dial up networking without VZaccess will allow the connection and not disable the device, but features such as signal strength, SMS Txt'ing etc is not available this way.
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
