Recording a tutorial video from my computer

I am trying to record a tutorial video for my class.  I am going to be teaching how to use word 1997. I try couple of programs, however the quality is poor.  I have try bsr screen recorder and highcriteria video. I was browsing and I find out a web site perfectly what I need.  www.lynda.com  It seems that the used quicktime, but  I am not sure, also what program will you recomend after finish project a good program to create a dvd.  Please advise
