Question

is this Routing/Network setup acceptable?

Asked by: Jglauber

I wanted to get a few opinions on the way our network is setup.

We have 2 locations in different states: Corp Office, Call Center
They are connected Via 3M (2 x T1) MPLS Circuit
The call center is a cisco Voip setup with Call managers, Unity, IPcc

I wanted to know if the way that we're doing the routing from the workstations/servers to the internet, mpls connection, and even the call managers is correct.  I've put all of the info into a the attached image file. I'm wondering If there is a better way putting the routing information out there since the Main router in the call center doesn't actually route the most of the traffic, it just sends it to a different ip address on the same subnet

Any comments / tips / questions are very welcome.

I wonder where is your main office in your drawing?

what it the 2911 router for?

I would have the main AT&T router connected to the switch. the fire wall of that switch and the 2911 router of that switch. and then sit all the servers and Clients the other sie of this router.

The Main Office is everything behind the 172.16.0.10 side of the AT&T Managed Router

Ok it is clear now. I like your config and it is pretty simple, so troubleshooting will not be painful for you.
I suppose your switch does support vlans in the second location.

Correct. It's an HP Procurve 5300.

I was mainly concerned with putting all the clients in the call center with a default gateway of 172.20.1.1 and then having all the traffice for the main office have to actually touch the 172.20.1.1 router before it's sent to the 172.20.0.10 router to be sent over the mpls.

The strange thing is that the routing table of windows computer at the call center doesn't show the learned route to the main office after it's sent data to that location.  It's like the 172.20.1.1 router does the forwarding for the client instead of just telling the client it should send to the 172.20.0.10 router for that subnet.
