I have a dozen D-link routers that i have setup for our field users to connect up in the field to use a certain aplication. What we do is send out 2 or 3 users to a client to work on audit files together. They connect up to each others shared folders and run a certain application. Here is a short explination of what we do. The "in-charege" makes a synced copy from the master file on the network to take out in the field. When out in the field, the "in charge" acts as the master copy for all oter users and they will create "child" copies off of the In-charge machine. Here is the STRANGE part...
When the "in charge" makes the synced copy adn disconnects from the network everything appears just great. The user can open all the embedded files within the application just fine. As soon as we connect up the D-link router (with NO other computers connected) and try to open the same files. It goes ffom taking 2 seconds to open a files to over 30 seconds. Same thing occurs with just about every file type. As soon as i disconnect the cable everything is normal again.
This router is setup as the DHCP server and hands out the IP addresses and if teh internet is connected it is also the gateway. I am a bit confused as to why this is happening. If you can help me out I would be very appreciative. Any and all comments welcome. Thanks again for the great site.
