Power options on Aironet 1240

I recently purchased a Cisco 1240 aironet access point. The software running on it is version 12.4 (10b). When I boot the AP and after initiation it shutsdown the radios on it. From my reading this could be a power problem. I am using an ac_power adaptor. How do I configure the device to source power from the adopter and not from the ethernet link? It appears the radios shutdown because they are trying to get power from the ethernet power line. The error I get from the web interface is: all radios disabled due to insufficient inline power. upgrade inline power source or install power injector.

You need to configure both the switch the access point is connected to and the access point

On the switch you need to disconnect the cable, then enter the command "power inline never" command on the interface the AP is connected to.

Then follow the config steps at:

Our network is not running cisco switches and they do not run inline power. What changes can I make on the access point configuration?

In the system power settings section of the web based gui for the AP:

Select:

Power Settings: Power Negotiation selected

Power Injector: Unchecked

Try the command:

AP(config)# no power inline negotiation prestandard source

last thing that I can think of

Disconnect the ethernet cable the remove the ac power adapter.

Console into the device and once console is set up, plug the ac power adapter back in and see if you get the same result.  If so I would tend to think a faulty power supply (may not be true but I'm running out of ideas)

DO you think adding a cisco power injector would help? I am thinking of purchasing one

If your ac adapater isn't working properly than yes I would consider the power injector as a valid replacement option
