First, your HP laser printer shall be network-enabled, i.e. have a n suffix, such Laserjet 1200n.
Second, try to print a test sheet from the printer.
Third, match the internal network address, sub-net mask and default gateway in line with your office network. For example, if you have an internal ip address of 192,168.0.x, sub-net mask of 255.255.255.0 and default gateway of 192.168.0.1. You need to input an occupied internal ip address, the sub-net mask and default gateway into your laser printer by using its front panel.
If you have a IP address in mind that you want to use you need to change the printer from using DHCP to Manual. Assuming you have not already done this here is what you can try.
Press OK open the menus.
Press the Left or Right Arrow to navigate to Reports/Config Report. Press OK
On the Configuration Report find the IP address that the printer currently has.
Now that you have the IP address open a web browser and type in the IP address in the address bar and press enter. This should open the GUI for the printer. Click on the networking tab. You need to select the Manual IP radio button and fill in the IP, Subnet and gateway information below. If you are uncertain of the addresses to use other than IP. Check the IP settings of your PC by opening a CMD prompt and typing in ipconfig /all this will display the information you need.
