Setting for the network do not match the requirements of the network

I brought home a laptop and when I try to connect it to my wireless, and I click on the wireless connection, it displays "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network.
How do I fix this?

do you have some encryption enabled on your router? (any pass needed to connect to your wifi?)
do oyu have enabled WPS (wifi enabled setup) on the router? If so, try to disable it
or you can go to the Network & sharing center > manage wireless network and on security tab you can manage it manually, also you can delete the network and try to connect then again

The router has a password.  I've connected at least 6 different computers to the same router with no problem like this.  I would think the issue is in the laptop not the router?

Well, you're not really giving enough information for anyone to supply a solution without guessing.

We don't even know if you're using linux or windows, let alone what version.
you need to delete the saved information on the adapter for the wireless network, then rejoin. These setting sometime become corrupted or confused.
I finally figured out how to disconnect it.  I had to add it back manually and that fixed it.

Thanks
