The only way I can get the router to work is if I use the uplink port and basically use my router as a switch. What I'm trying to do is connect to the WAN port and then configure my router to my Static IP on the network at college so I can run a DHCP server using the router and connect my desktop, labtop, etc. However I can't connect to 192.168.1.1 to configure my router to do this. I'm getting another login screen for something else used on campus, not my router. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First, DON"T connect the switch uplink port to the campus network. You will become a rogue DHCP server and hunted down like a wild animal..
Try resetting the router to factory defaults with the little black button on the back.
Connect the WAN port to the campus network, and let your workstation get an IP address from it via dhcp. You should then be able to get to it..
