I have had similar issues with other modems. What I did was reset the ip address. You can do this by:
connecting the modem to a Comport.
opening a command window.
enter: arp -a xxx.xx.xx.xxx(new ip) xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx(mac address)
The mac address can be found on your modem.(it may not be in the above format, but be sure to type it in as such).
Now you should have reset the IP and should be able to telnet in.

Try using your browser. Type in the ip address of the router in your browser and it will bring up the router GUI interface. You can change the settings from there.
