The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Multiple Routers on home network ?

Asked by pablocrozz in Network Routers

Hi.
I wonder if someone can help. I have a Zoom ADSL modem router, which is connected to a Belkin Wireless Router and then into my PC via ethernet and a second PC connects via wireless network card. Firstly I know from reading other similar problems that its not advisable to have two routers on the same LAN but this was because I bought the Belkin Wireless when I had NTL broadband but since I moved I had to change to BT who supply a USB ADSL, which will not plug into the Belkin (USB - Ethernet) so I was given a Zoom X3 ADSL modem router with Ethernet. Both machines can connect to the internet fine through the two routers. The problem is I wanted to use my machine (occasionally) as a web server but I can not connect to it from the outside. Both machines are assigned IP's by the wireless router (192.168.2.xxx) and the WAN gateways shows as 10.0.0.2 (which is assigned by the Zoom Modem Router). I am sure it is something to do with the route table on the Zoom's settings but I am unable to configure it to work. My IP from BT is dynamic but is leased for 24 hours I understand. I didnt want to use it as a web server very often and I know I will have to change settings when my IP changes, which is not a problem. Can anyone tell me how to configure the two routers? Is there someway to disable routing capabilities on the Zoom and just use it simply as an ADSL modem. All the security is set by the Wireless router so security on the Zoom is not important..

Help much appreciated.
