1) Â my pop3 account information
2) Â use MAC filtering (just enter the MAC addresses of my 2 notebooks)
3) Â Ask the router to start assigning IP address from 192.168.1.100
4) Â Limit the total wireless connections to 8
All other settings are using the shipped default.
Yet, when I connect to the internet via that Linksys wireless router, it show OK for around 20-30 min. but after that, the computer always shows reconnection and tell you the reception is excellent ... etc. Â This sometimes cause error in my MS outlook cause it retrieve email from the server at every 5 minutes and in case of disconnection. Â Error resulted. Â Besides, it cause the IE to take longer time to retrieve pages from the web and sometimes web page not found resulted due to connection broken. Â In most case, I just need to wait for a while, it will reconnect automatically. Â But in some worst cases, I need to reboot my PC. Â And to the most worst case, even rebooted, the notebook can not get the IP address from the router.
What is the problem with my Internet connection ?
Is this problem related to the router or it is a PC problem ?
Can anyone help ?
Cheers

As for security, I would suggest you enable the following at the minimum.
1. Disable SSID broadcast. Change your SSID after you do that. Not good to use the old one.
2. Enable "WPA2 Personal" security and choose a really tough pass phrase. Use AES as  your encryption protocol.
3. Disable AP administration over wireless and internet.
Try it and let us know if you need any more help.
I have made a total reset (reset to factory defaults) on my wireless router and have make sure that the channel no. has not collided with any of my neigbours. Â And I have try to connect with AND without encryption. Â But the situation seems just improved by a little bit. Â It is now take around 45 mins to have a disconnection and the no. of disconnection is lesser but not disappear. Â I have verify this via. downloading a file of 1GB from internet and use no special software to assist or improve the download so that once disconnection occured, my download will be stopped. Â I tried several time via download or web browsing (to ebay) by my self. Â But the annoying disconnection still follows me like a ghost.
What else should I do ? Â Do I need put my Linksys router for vendor checking ?
Cheers

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on the Internet. The most familiar type of routers are home and small office cable or DSL routers that simply pass data, such as web pages, email, IM, and videos between computers and the Internet. More sophisticated routers, such as enterprise routers, connect large business or ISP networks up to the powerful core routers that forward data at high speed along the optical fiber lines of the Internet backbone. Though routers are typically dedicated hardware devices, use of software-based routers has grown increasingly common.
