Hi Experts,
I am trying to setup a new wireless router for use in a home network.
I have been instructed by the Dlink manual to connect the Dlink router to the LAN card on the desktop via one of the DLAN ports on the wireless router. I have also a wireless PCI card on the desktop which i have disable it for now until I have set up the wireless router.
The manual states to type
http://192.168.0.1 so that I can access the setup page of the wireless router. But I can get a "page not found" message from IE.
I did a ping on 192.168.0.1 and got no reply which seems to suggest that IP is not available.
Then I type inconfig in dos prompt to find out what the LAN ip address is and the default gateway ip address. The result is 192.168.123.194 for IP address and 192.168.123.254 for the default gateway. I have configured the LAN card propertied to obtain the IP address automatically.
I did a ping on 192.168.123.254 and got a reply from this ip address. Huh, I thought, maybe this is the ip address of the wireless router. So, I went into IE to type
http://192.168.123.254 but this time I am not getting "Page not found" instead i get "Upgrade not complete"
What upgrade is this message referring to? I thought maybe the LAN card wasn't configured completely so I tested the LAN card by connecting it directly to the ADSL via Cat 5 cable and I can access the internet via IE. So this seems to suggests that the LAN card is working fine.
So, could someone point out what is happening here? Thanks
