NAT Loopback on Cisco Router?

I have a Cisco 877 router at my house and have a static NAT statement to allow a service out of the public interface.  That part works, my problem is that computers on the privet side cannot access the service using the public IP address.  I have a Linksys router before and it had a "loopback" option which allowed this to happen, is there a way to configure the Cisco router to do the same thing?

I know a common work-around is to have a local DNS Server directing clients to the internal address, but I don't have a local DNS server and don't want to install one.

Unless things have changed, you can not do this with a Cisco router.  How about putting an entry in the hosts file on the PC's if you don't want to use a DNS server?

Agree with JFrederick29. You simply can't do it with Cisco.
You can only access the service using the private IP address.

ASKER

Oh that really stinks.  No a hosts file will not work because I wanted my laptop to work seemlessly inside or outside of the network.  Thanks for the info.
