If you are using it as an Internet gateway for your office, then you should set those options, as they represent security. If this is just to allow wireless connections to a local network (LAN), it doesn't matter what you use.
If you choose to enable them for Internet security, they go up in levels of security-
- Endpoint Independent means you don't care if the reply traffic from the Internet is sourced at the address you originally connected to, nor if it is replying from the same port you connected to. This is risky, as it opens you up to man-in-the-middle attacks, etc. Best to avoid it, unless stuff isn't working properly.
- Address Restricted- this makes sure that reply traffic from the INternet is sourced form the IP address you originally connected to. Better security than the above.
- Port And Address Restricted- this makes sure that reply traffic from the INternet is sourced from the IP address you originally connected to, and that it is replying from the same port that you connected to. Best security of the 3 options.
As with most security, the higher you go, the more impact there is to normal traffic. So you may need to start at the highest level, and adjust downwards if things start to break. You can use the same settings for TCP and UDP, although TCP is the most crucial for Internet-type traffic.
