How do I restore a 3Com X5 to factory default?
Hi Everyone,
Hopefully someone can help me out here. I've got a 3Com X5 router I need to do a reset on so that it will revert back to default factory settings. However, I cannot log into it and there's no reset button on it. How do I do this please?
Regards,
Jens

Unfortunately, that was not the answer. It can only be done through using a console cable. Thanks for the suggestion.

The accepted solution will only reset the power to the device which will restart it.
The following will allow you to reset the admin password so that you can reset the device from the command line with a console cable:
1. Connect a PC with a terminal emulator to the serial port (115200/8/1/none).
2. Reboot the X5
3. Wait until the text "Loading" is displayed
4. Before the dots start to be displayed after "Loading" type "mkey" without the quotes. (No return at the end). You only have a few seconds to do this!
This will get you to the place in the OBE where you set up the TOS user.
