Info on Point to Point

We are migrating to a new building across town.  It is too far for fiber connection (due to $$) and line of sight is not there.  We will be keeping the old building and equipment there as well.

What I am looking for is a T1 Point to Point connection (we can almost afford that), but I cannot find the answer to the my main question.

Will the T1 Point to Point act as just another node on my network?  Due to some odd circumstances, it will be very difficult to have 2 different subnets (one on each end of the PTP), I really would like to be able to plug one end of the PTP into a switch and the other into a switch at site 2 and have them all on the same network (including subnet).

Is this the way the PTP works?

Thanks,
