SPAN (port monitoring) on Cisco 877W Router
Hi
I am looking to sniff some traffic on my small business network. I understand from the Cisco website that my 877 router supports SPAN, so that I can select a FastEthernet port on the router to mirror traffic to another FastEthernet port on the router (where my laptop is connected).
The Cisco web page states 'Beside the capability to set the speed/duplex capabilities on the switch ports, switch port monitoring (SPAN) and IGMP Snooping is also supported.' http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps380/ps6200/prod_qas0900aecd8028a982.html
I cannot find a configuration example of how to do this. The port I want to sniff is FE1 and my laptop is connected to FE0.
Many thanks
Gareth

The 'monitor session' commands can only be entered in configuration mode.
