The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cisco 2600 Router to NAT

Asked by Gunter17 in Network Routers, Frame Relay, Network Design & Methodology

I have a T1 with Covad, and a Cisco 2600 router. Covad is attached to Serial 0/0 of the router, and I have FE 0/0 going to a Catalyst switch, which my IP Phones, and PIX is plugged into. The PIX is using 74.x.x.2-16 of my IP range, as my router is 74.x.x.1.

My phone network is 10.252.8.0, the router has a secondary IP address of 10.252.8.1, and the switch has an IP address of 10.252.8.2. The switch is running DHCP, and distributing IP addresses to the IP phones. Which is working properly.

The problem is, when I attempt to configure NAT on the Cisco 2600 I get an IP but I cant reach any outside network.

DHCP is distributing the default gateway to the clients as 10.252.8.1

I only want traffic coming from 10.252.8.0 to be natted to the 74.x.x.1 address. The other 74.x.x.x address should continue functioning the way they are now.

Also, when I plug a workstation into the switch I can ping both FE0/0 of the router (10.252.8.1, and 74.x.x.1.)
