Hyperterminal not connecting to Cisco Routers

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem but it seems like Ihave a lot of issues with HyperTerminal 6.3 connecting to Cisco routers.

For example from my Windows box I have HyperTerminal 6.3 installed. If I try and connect to the Cisco router over the WAN link I get nothing (it says connected but I don't see anything - and eventually is disconnects). If I use Microsoft's built in Telnet it connects quick and I can use it no problem, etc. I've had this problem connecting to multiple routers of varying kinds. ie Cisco 1800, 2600, 2800, 3600 and so on.

I'd rather use HyperTerminal over Telnet. Is it the emulation mode wrong? It is set to Auto right now.

Also, I can connect to that same router no problem with Hyper Terminal 5.0 on a different Windows machine.
