Cannot Route between two external IPs on same router

Hi

I am having problems routing traffic between to external IPs that are on the same router
To give some background we are in a serviced office where each client has their own VLAN
two of the clients A and B have external IP's as they host small business servers.

Client A has an external IP of 80.194.xx.165 and client B has an IP of 80.194.xx.172

the clients have seperate VLAN's internally

for some reason email etc will not flow from A-B or vice versa tracerts fail as do pings from
A - B / B - A

We are running a CISCO ASA and CISCO router

I am not sure if this is a Firewall issue or a router issue but would be very grateful for any advice
