The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

ATT PTP Metro E with 3560/3750

Asked by DemoD in Network Routers, Network Switches & Hubs

Hello all,

I am trying to get my ptp metro e (att) set up and am having some difficulty. We have a ptp t-1 that is working fine, but are adding the metro-e (not replacing it) for DB replication.

setup now
------------------------------------------
Site a
3750
vlan 50 192.168.50.0
swtch address 192.168.50.8

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/25
description Metro E to site b fiber
 no switchport
 ip address 10.12.0.1 255.255.255.0

ptp t1 router 192.168.50.3
----------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------
Site b
3560
vlan 10 192.168.1.0
swtch address 192.168.1.8

interface GigabitEthernet0/4
description Metro E to site a fiber
 no switchport
 ip address 10.12.0.2 255.255.255.0

ptp t1 router 192.168.1.3
----------------------------------------------------------

I do not think Routing is my issue. I can ping from vlan 50 to vlan 10 across the t-1 as things are set up now

What I cannot do is ping the 10.12.0.2 interface at site b from site a or the 10.12.0.1 interface at site a from site b.

if I do a route print at site a it shows 10.12.0.0 is directly connected via GigabitEthernet1/0/25

It looks like the ping requests are going out the proper interfaces as I see the outgoing packets rise, but neither enterface tied to the metro e ever sees anything coming in.

What am I missing here? I thought metro e is just a big patch cable

Thanks all
