Question

How come I can't access the 'Additional Tasks' section in Cisco SDM 2.5???

Asked by: MFRMLS_IT

Hi,

We have a Cisco 2851 router and I have a local install of SDM (Security Device Manager) version 2.5 on my PC. I can run and access nearly everything in the SDM GUI but when i click on the 'Additional Tasks' box which is the last option on the left at the bottom, nothing happens.  It just displays the contents of the last box I clicked on previously on the left, in the pane on the right.

We have SDM express installed on the flash of the router, but I don't see an 'Additional Tasks' section in that version.

I can't see it being any of the configurations we have done via the CLI that would be causing this problem. Having said that I am no expert otherwise I wouldn't be writing this post. *grin*

I've already tried this in a number of different browsers (IE 7 & 8, FireFox, can't access SDM via Chrome at all).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If im not mistaken the express version will not allow you to config the options under "additional options".

Either load the full version of SDM on the router or load SDM on your computer to access the full version.

As I originally mentioned, I already have the full version of SDM installed on my local computer. Just to clarify...SDM Express installed on router, FULL version of SDM running my PC.

I have the same problem, it never used to be the case. I too have Express on the router and Full on the computer. I'm using an 831. Any update?

Nope, no update yet. :-( I have a Cisco 1841 router at home, so I'm going to try to run the full version of SDM directly from the flash on that router to see if that works. If it does, I'm going to backup the configuration of the Cisco 2851 router at the office, install of the full version of SDM on the flash, and then restore the configuration. I'll let you know what the results are.

I know it sounds like a silly one, but try rolling back your Java Version. I had the same issue on my 1841.
Java version 1.6.0_02 worked from my laptop.
It's worth a try.

by: that1guy15Posted on 2009-09-28 at 08:35:37ID: 25440218

Ok that solidifies it for me......

Any issue with SDM I will now try rolling java back first. I have never seen another java applet be so version temperamental. :)

Glade you got your issue solved.
