no it does not matter. all ports are the same one a switch. the mac of the device that is your wan device (router, etc.) will be picked up by the switch on that port... no different than a the PCs and other switches on your other ports. the switch just switches traffic to and from those macs... hence, a switch... doesn't matter.

It depends on the switch. Newer switched are autosensing and it does not matter. An older switch will be marked - usually two ports together with one marked uplink. Use one of those for internet input and do not use the other port. Use the remaining ports for output. ... THinkpads_User
