Catalyst 6509 + Enhanced Flexwan Cards

we are upgrading our DSL ATM aggregation router to a Catalyst 6509 Chassis.  All appears to work fine in the lab, however whenever I reboot the Chassis, the startup-config is applied to the running-config before the flexwan cards an port adapters are initialed, so the config does not get applied to those interfaces.  as soon as they initialize, if I do "copy start run"  all my config is back, and working.  any idea's how to stop that from happening? I am using the default config register.

When you reboot, the startup config is copied to the running config, they are the same.

Perhaps you habe messed with the config-register, what is it's value? should be 0x2102 not 0x2142 which means ignore startup config. You can  issue sh version to see value and there is a config-register command as well.

I am aware that the startup config and running config right after a reboot are the same,  If you read my question, it says that my config is being applied during reboot, that is no the problem here.  the problem is that the flexwan and port adapters dont become active until AFTER the startup config has been applied, therefore, all of the config previously copied to running cannot be copied, as the chassis is unaware of the interfaces.  My question also mentiones that I am using the default config register, 2102.

I do not see that any mention of config register in your question

Hardware initialization is the second step in the boot process, your hardwar should be intialized before the IOS image is booted. Perhaps your card is failling initial intialization, I would change my diagnostics mode to full and reboot and see what you find.

I assume a sup720, what does the following output show you?

this doesn't say it all? "I am using the default config register"??  ANYWAY.  on to something that matters... yes I am using sup720 PFC3A (redundant)  attached is the output you requested.  I am looking on Cisco's website and see that there are "modular" versions of the IOS I am running that describe weird issues like this.  I downloaded that, and am applying it now. we will see where that gets me.
