The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How does changing the WAN IP address of my SonicWall effect the GVC?

Asked by RWB_Support in Network Routers, Networking Hardware Firewalls

We are making changes to the Internet structure at a clients location. Currently they have a T1 line which is delivering the organizations entire Internet needs. This includes regular web and email traffic as well as a television broadcast encoder.

Because we are adding a second encoder and a web server to the load we are going to move all office email and web traffic to a Business DSL line and keep the broadcast encoders and web server on the T1.

Currently we are using a SonicWall 2040 Pro, with a GVC VPN configured on it. The VPN has to move to the DSL line when we separate traffic. So to do that I am moving the SonicWall as well. I am going to reconfigure the SonicWall to use the new IP address associated with the DSL line and what I want to know is how will this affect the GVC's configuration?

1. Have to rebuild GVC VPN on the SonicWall
or
2. GVC VPN settings don't care what IP address the WAN has and is just reliant on the client asking for connection with matching Shared Secret ID?

I would also like to know if anyone knows where I can find the WAN MAC address in the configuration screens of the SonicWall. I need to register it with the ISP for the DSL change over.

Thanks in advance.
