Cisco 1841 HWIC 2FE Unknown WAN Daughter Card
Purchased some HWIC 2FE for 1841 and 2811. Neither device will recognize. Checked compatibility before buying and says they should work. Running 12.4(25) IOS. Show diag says Unknown WAN Daughter Card.
Any ideas on how to get the devices to see the card? Below are the outputs from a few commands that might be helpful. Let me know if other command output is needed. The sho ip int brief at the bottom shows the fixed fastethernet ports. This particular 1841 has a WIC2T in slot 1.
Thanks.

Hello,
According to the "1- and 2-Port Fast Ethernet High-Speed WIC for Cisco Integrated Services Routers" document @ http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5854/product_data_sheet0900aecd80581fe6_ps5853_Products_Data_Sheet.html, both Cisco 2811 and 1841, support this card. But you need a minimum of 12.4(20)T IP Base IOS. This will align with my first post.
Thanks.

Thanks for the explanation. Also did some reader - clearer now but still muddy. I did download T versions of IOS this am but have 32MB flash cards in the 1841's. All of the 12.4 T versions are bigger than that so cannot put the IOS on the device without more Flash. It's a little frustrating that I can't use ANY main train IOS for the 2FE.
Anyway - can't officially test to make sure the card works with the T IOS but sounds like we are on the right path. Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I had the same flash device problem and had to borrow one to test. So it will be good if you can borrow a 64M flash to test.
Good luck.

It looks like you don't have the correct software train. According to the post @ https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/message/64441, you need a T train Cisco IOS for the card on the Cisco 2811. So it looks like 124-24.T1 might work. I am going to check for the Cisco 1841. It may be the same. So if you have a CCO account with Cisco, you should be able to try out this the 124-24.T1 IOS.
Thanks.
