The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

SBS 2008 HTTPS Browsing and Port Problems

Asked by smppro in SBS Small Business Server, Network Routers, Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

Greetings,

Hopefully someone out there can shed a little light on my SBS 2008 R2 dilema.

Firstly,  I have upgraded from a SBS 2003 setup, clean install.  Everything seems to work fine for a few days, then I start getting a system error (Network Health Event ID 119 "An internet Port mapping is missing".)  I try to fix it with the fix my network wizard, but the it does not correct the problem (even though the wizard says it does).  I am presently using a Linksys WRT600N, ports 25, 80, 443, 987, and 1723 mapped to the server IP, UPnP enabled.  I just can't seem to figure out how to tell which port mapping is missing according to the server.  I've checked to see if the ports were open via the internet, and all the neccesary ports are.

When all this is happening, both the client computers and server computer has lot of difficulty accessing the internet, particularily secure sites, and browsing is SLOW.  As well, some programs cannot access the internet, saying that there is a no connection, or a firewall is preventing access.  I have disabled both firewalls on the server and the client, and the issue still occurs.  I can shut the server down, and enable the DCHP on the router, and the problem with accessing the internet or firewall errors is gone, and everything is back to normal - which leads me to believe there is something I am not setting up correctly on the server.  I have not tweaked anything, basically just a clean install.

I am on satellite internet (hughes) with a HN7000S.  The only thing that kind of helps is setting up a proxy server (192.168.0.1:87(HTTP) and 69.19.14.10:3128(HTTPS)), but that doesn't always work.  None of this ever was an issue with SBS 2003.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
