Setting up an Etherchannel between a Cisco switch and a 3com switch

Asked by TJanousek in Network Switches & Hubs

Tags: 3com, cisco, etherchannel, switch

Hello!  I have done Etherchannel between 2 Cisco switches but with my new company we have a combination of 3com and Cisco and I need the ability to etherchannel (Link Aggregation in 3com's world) between 2 of them.  I've googled about all I can think of with little luck.

Does anyone have any sample configs or best practices?  I've read that it does and doesn't work between the 2 technologies so I'm not sure which to trust.  Is there a specific protocol I need to use to make it work?  I believe the trunking needs to be marked 802.1q correct?  How do I define that?

On the 3com side, it looks pretty straight forward but I'm being asked about LACP if I want that enabled or not??  LACP state to be clear...

It's a 3com 3848 switch and a Cisco Blade Center switch (IGESM I believe is the full name).  Any help would be great!
