Inline power compatibility

I am trying to power some IP phones using the 3524-pwr-xl-en inline power switches, but they only seem to work with Cisco phones. Can these work with other IP phones? I ask because I have a 3550 in my network that will power any IP phone I connect to it. Does it require a software upgrade? Im not sure how many watts my phone require, but assumed if the 3550 can power them then the 3524 should be able to as well.

Please post your IOS version and or phone wattage consumption. Also, what is the distance from your switch are these phones....?

These are Allworx phones and are specified to draw a maximum of approximately 9.6 watts (400mA at 24V for the wall transformer or about 200mA at 48V for PoE ) with the typical number being quite a bit lower. The IOS we have loaded  is Version 12.0(5)WC3b. We're only using a 7ft patch cable right now, but they will be deployed in a small office so the maximum distance could be anywhere from 100-200 ft.

It looks like I'm SOL!  I knew these switches did not conform to the 802 standard, but as far as I know neither does the 3550 that I know works with my phones already. If you have any other information let me know.
