Help with managed switch configuration, Linksys SRW2024

Tags: Linksys, Webview, SRW2024
Hi, I have been put into a situation where I need to manage a network I did not build. There is no documentation of how everything was set up. One of the issues I am dealing with involves a Linksys SRW2024 24 port managed switch. One of the configuration interfaces for this device is via http. I have been unable to find the switch on the network, I did an ip scan and tried a web browser on all the addresses I had not otherwise identified. The switch has a serial interface, so I tried this with hyperterminal I realized the password was not the default and nobody has any idea of what the password might me. I located instructions for resetting the password(this switch has no external reset) but this procedure did not work, I cannot log in with the default password. After looking around I found out that there is a bad version of the firmware that causes this password situation. I am perplexed by the fact I can't find this switch via IP, as far as I can tell you cannot use this as a dumb switch. I suppose it is possible that someone disabled the web interface and it is one of the mystery devices in the IP scan. Does anyone have any insight as to what I can do at this point? The only thing I can think of is to replace the switch.
