the Managed Mode push-button, located on the right side on the front panel, restores the
devices default settings configuration. you may have already defaulted the switch

The PowerConnect 2708/2716/2724/2748 has a Managed Mode push button on the front panel.
The Managed Mode button is for changing between Managed Mode and Unmanaged (or
Secure) Mode. After a change from Unmanaged (or Secure) Mode to Managed Mode, the
switch restores the configuration values to factory default settings.
From Unmanaged or Secure Mode (2748 only), pressing the Managed Mode button causes:
" Factory default configuration (192.168.2.1) is set as the switch IP address.
" Subnet mask changes to 255.255.255.0
" Graphical User Interface (GUI) login user name changes to Admin, and the password is not
configured (appears blank), with Read/Write privilege.
" The DHCP client is set off.
" The device is rebooted.

Ok, Perhaps i was not clear in my initial post.

Someone changed the initial IP in managed mode.

The IP Is : X.X.X.X (where X is unknown)

1 - How can i discover what the managed mode IP address is?

2- If there is no way to discover it, how can i reset the device to it's factory settings?

if dhcp is now enabled it will have got an address from your network. if it has just been changed manually if you make the switch unmanged by pressing the button on the front  the manged LED will go off then press the button to make it manged again and it will default to  192.168.2.1 as post above

Interesting,

I reset a switch to factory defaults and attempted to log into the web interface with username: admin pw: blank and I am not able to log in. It's just sends me right back to the same screen. What could be causing this?

sjs, try a couple times.  This switch will reject you a few times.  Also, try closing then reopening internet explorer.

This switch is finicky and not worth the headache!
