Question

Show Privilege

Asked by: SteeleCo

I have a Cisco 3560 switch I am setting up and I have two users with Privilege 15 access.

However, when I log on as one of the two users and do a show privilege command it says they have a privilege level of 1.

What do I need to check so that when the users log in they have level 15 access?

Yes, but it happens when I connect to the console as well.

by: donmanrobbPosted on 2009-06-24 at 07:52:44ID: 24701678

Hmm, post the show run output for the usernames (change the usernames/passwords first)
and the line vty / line con and I'll have a look.

Oh your using AAA, you would fix it with a command similar to:
aaa authorization commands 15 default local

by: SteeleCoPosted on 2009-06-24 at 10:30:31ID: 24703401

Here is what is in my running-config now:

!
aaa authentication login default local
aaa authorization commands 15 default local
!

But, it still doesn't work.

by: donmanrobbPosted on 2009-06-24 at 11:07:29ID: 24703883

What are you planning on using AAA for?

by: SteeleCoPosted on 2009-06-24 at 12:02:16ID: 24704540

Nothing actually. Very new to configuring Cisco switches. We've had all HP before these.

by: SteeleCoPosted on 2009-06-24 at 12:03:37ID: 24704562

I was following an online "how-to". Thought it was how I had to use a local database so I could have different users setup, etc.

by: donmanrobbPosted on 2009-06-24 at 14:14:23ID: 24705936

ok, just do the following then if you don't need

no aaa new-model
line con 0
login local
line vty 0 15
login local

by: SteeleCoPosted on 2009-06-24 at 14:25:39ID: 24706026

That's just what I did. After you asked about AAA I looked around and noticed if I removed AAA it should work.

Of course, I wish I would have looked at your post before trying because I forgot to use LOGIN LOCAL on the con and vty lines.

But, I have it working now. Thanks for all your help!
