Which is better.

Hello Follow Eningeers,
I am in the process of redesigning my current network infrastructure, currenting I have an all 3COM network. Goal is to have run gigabit to the desktop and 10g uplinks back to the coire switch. I have chosen HP Procurve 5412 as the core switch and 2910 in the closets, and as for Juniper the design will be all 4200 EX seriers switches at the core and closets. I am leaning more towards the HP, but would like some input.

Also are you running HP or Juniper switches?

I have a few hundred Juniper EX 3200/4200s in one of the networks I manage, they work great.
Please a consistant vendor design is always better then multi-vendor in my opinion.

Juniper is good, if somewhat pricy, but then for core switching you really shouldn't skimp on network gear.

As robb said, the most important thing is to keep all the hardware uniform, if you go Cisco, get everything cisco, if you go hp, get everything hp. A lot of vendors don't like co-operating with each other and things can be....challenging.

I apologize if I didn't make myself clear, but I would only choose HP or Juniper not to have a multiple vendor only one vendor, but my question is which is a better choice.

In my opinion, Juniper switches are superior to the HP ones. Infact since they are all full featured layer 3 switches, they might be overkill depending on your network design.
