I'm not sure if DLink has a different name for this, but what you will need to accomplish is called VLan trunking(reference IEEE 802.1Q for standards specifications).
example:
router hosting 2 or more vlans
- trunk to switch for multiple vlans
switch with users on multiple vlans
- vlan tags per port for users specific network
- trunk to other switch(es) to pass vlans through from router
- trunk to ESXi(which also mush support trunking) to pass vlans through from router
