Setting up network switch for external backups

How do I setup a network switch port to allow the transfer of large backup files external without effecting the network speeds.

Sorry! Have not abanded the question. Unfortunately out off the office until end of the week, so cannot log onto test switch and look check out QOS until Monday. If it helps I'm happy to accept this solution now and come back with more questions later.
