HP Switch part numbers

We need to connect two sites via single-mode fiber that's already in place.  Network traffic will be minimal.  We're looking at a pair of HP 2510 switches (part J9279A).

My question is related to the fiber modules.  Two part numbers are given:
HP X112 100M SFP LC BX-D Transceiver (J9099B)
HP X112 100M SFP LC BX-U Transceiver (J9100B)

I'm not familiar with the concept of upstream/downstream when it comes to SFP modules.  Reading the part descriptions it mentions using a single strand of fiber; I'm guessing this is the reason for the upstream/downstream parts?

I figured we would need one of each part number but wanted some expert feedback.
Thanks!

I've requested that this question be closed as follows:

Accepted answer: 0 points for Khamma1's comment #a40764802

for the following reason:

Both real-world and vendor specs quoted in answer, answered question clearly and quickly.
Glad I helped :)
not that fussed about the point but this is a little confusing
"#a40764802 (0 points) as the solution for the following reason:

no points for answering the question correctly and clearly and quickly? or is the system playing up?
has it had a long day like me?

Yeah, that was definitely not my intention.  It showed 500 points when I closed.

More fully...
I don't use EE a lot, but in the past I remember an option to select the number of points when the question was created.
I didn't see that this time, but went ahead anyway.
When I closed the question, I saw 500 points at the top, and though "ok, it's different now, but the points are still there"
Apparently not though.  Can a mod clear this up for us?
I thought my comment was going to a mod lol
I think there is a little bug in the system at the moment it's happened a couple times where a question was closed with no points then actually closed with points.
Like i said I’m not fussed and the comment you made looked applicative :)

re-accepting solution.  I'm seeing 500 points awarded, just like yestreday.
