I would recommend hard resetting the router. This is explained in the manual and unusally is a combination of holding the reset button in for a number of seconds and cycling the power. This happened to a clients Linksys router. I hard reset it to defaults. Installed the latest firmware from the linksys website set it all back up and never had a problem since.
Let us know how you get on.
Thanks - Tom
i reset the router, changed the network name, and issued a new key.
now when I try to connect to the newly created network:
"Windows is unable to the selected network. It may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again."
But the network shows up with all bars in "Choose a Wireless Network"
tomod1984: i did a hard reset and configured the router again.
the network now most of the time doesnt show up in my available networks.
it showed up after one refresh with all bars. then, when trying to connect i get:
"Windows is unable to the selected network. It may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again."
yes i am using wep
This is unusal, how old is the router? What model and version is it?
I have installed stacks of Linksys kit for various customers over the years and only ever had one fail in 100+ installations. I wouldnt think it would be the router however a similar thing happened to a Belkin a year or so ago. It ended up in the bin.
The latest firmware for this one is 1.50.9 10/01/2006
Can you please check on the online interface what version you currently have and if its an older version update to the latest version
