The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Two wireless connections on same DSL line?

Asked by sasllc in 802.11 Wireless Access Points, Wireless Network Cards & Adapters, DSL Lines / Cable Internet

I am trying to help a user with his home wireless connections.  He has DSL, and in his house he has a Linksys 4-port DSL wireless router.  The range isn't great, but it works fine in the house.

On the same property, he also has a cabin 200 yards away, which has the same phone number as the house.  Now and then he will take his router to the cabin and run his laptop wirelessly there with no problem.

Now he would like to have a wireless connection in both buildings at the same time, running on the same DSL phone connection.  In case it matters, he does not care about the wired ports on the router, because everything he does is wireless.

What I'm hoping to do is have a good, strong wireless connection in each building.  I assume it would be difficult to get a good signal in the cabin if all I have is a wireless source in the house, because it's 200 yards away.  And, I thought about using power-line connections with an access point in the cabin, but while theses two buildings do share a phone line, they do not share the same electric circuit.

So....that's why I'm wondering what equipment I would need to set up a wireless connection in both buildings.  TIA
