We have a small (30-people) office in a downtown location with approx 10-20 other wireless networks around us. We have a brick wall dividing the office in two long and narrow sections. We use wireless almost exclusively. We currently have a linksys wap200, their business class AP. Isn't quite cutting it. The far side of the office doesn't always get a good signal. The previous tenant had four APs, two on each side of the brick wall, one at the front and one at the back. They said it worked perfectly. They are all PoE and mounted on the ceiling.
So my question is - am I better off throwing up four 1131AG APs (at $500 a piece) or getting a 1252G and throwing on some decent antennas (approx $1500). We have a few macs that could use the draft-N, and any new laptops we get will have it, but most machines don't right now.
We don't have a controller, and don't have the budget for it, so one AP would be easier to configure. But I don't see that as a huge plus. Unless the 4 with out the controller are going to get in each other's way, or cause a lot of switching back and forth. Or maybe I just get two 1131AGs...
Any help would be appreciated.
