We have a 2Wire Gateway 2701HG-B router and DSL service from Southwestern Bell.
Thr router is also a wireless gateway and we've connected an Xbox to it using a CAT5 cable. We also connect wirelessly to the router / gateway from 2 Dell desktops, 2 Dell laptops, and a Dell 1720dn Laser Printer which also connects to the router directly via an Apple Airport Express.
The desktops each have a Belkin Wireless G plus MIMO USB adapters and we use Windows to manage the wireless connections. The laptops each have an internal wireless cards and use Intel PRO/Set Wireless software.to manage their connection.
Security on the wireless network is WPA-Personal / TKIP with the default password on the router.
The DSL connection speed is 6016 Incoming and 768 outgoing.
The problem we have is when "xbox live" is running the desktops and laptops periodically lose their connection to the internet. They can see and connect to the router, but do not get an IP address and cannot connect. If we turn the xbox off or reset the router, the computers can connect to the router and to the internet (e.g., they all get an IP address).
Oddly enough, the router often goes pear-shaped in the mid-afternoon around 3 / 4pm. We've found that once it loses its connection it doesn't reset itself - we must manually do it.
I've attached some screenshots of our system set-up. Any ideas?
