Hey Experts I just wanted figure a way how to secure this model of router in
a more secure way for my LAN connection.
Actually I have assigned a static IP Address to the mac address of the router.
Also the router is working as a dhcp asigning ip's to the laptops that connect this equipment.
Is their anyway to create a VPN to have a more secure connection.Actually it has activated a WPA2 security but I thing this is not enough,
Thanks

I think you may be slightly confused. A VPN is for a site to site of client to gateway connection from 1 network to another, so this will not help. Also, the WNR3500 has VPN Passthrough but is not a VPN Gateway.
To secure your wireless use WPA2 Security using TKIP and/or AES Exncryption with a 128 bit key.
To secure your network from intrusion verify that the Firewall is active and only create routes for the specific services that you run that will require access to them from the internet.
This is mostly done out-of-the-box on the retail netgear products. If you want a better option, purchase a Netgear FVS338 VPN/Firewall and a Netgear WNDAP330 Wireless Access Point. Both of them are very good products, I have installed many.
