I was recently performing a couple networking updates for a local group and I was asked if it was possible to setup a wireless network for the entire lab and its external buildings. The real question here is, can a completely wireless network span a quarter mile radius with some new network capabilities? I thought of having access points pass on the network connection to another access point but I am not sure on how to do that. Passing the network is not the most favorable option because locations needed for the access points will be outdoors and will complicate the whole setup. So it comes back to is there a wireless network setup that can actually span a quarter mile.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
