Question

possible signal overlap

Asked by: JohnnyCanuck

I am thinking of setting up free wireless in a 4 storey Hotel.  I'm concerned about ghosting of the signal (or if its even a problem).  For example, in a city with tall buildings, you often get ghost images on your TV if you are using an antenna because the signal from the transmitter will bounce off of buildings and arrive at your TV slightly out of time with the signal that comes direct from the transmitter.  If I have access points on every floor there is bound to be some signal overlap if you are closer to one access point but still getting the signal from another access point.  Does this cause problems connecting or does 802.11g take care of this?

    Hi THere,

If you are concern aout signal overlapping, you can change the channel on which the wireless works.
You should make any two AP 3 channels apart.

    regards,

I'm not really satisfied with the answer posted by adnanmig as that would mean multiple networks with the same SSID appearing in the availavble networks list.  If no one else has an answer can you please close the question without awarding any points.

    JohnnyCanuck,

It's your business to close your Q's. If you don't want to award points, then follow the instructions in the Link I posted above.

Also, if you don't reply to posts from experts, they assume you either satisfied with the answer, or not really interested in getting an answer.

    Thanks,
    rindi,

OK, if no one else has anything to add I will close the question shortly.  I was hoping for something a little more in-depth in the way of an answer but because adnanmig is the only person who contributed I will award him the points.
