Hi,
I would suggest to try some simple things first :
- try a connection using simple parameters (Check SSID - note that it is case sensitive), force to a specific channel on both side (let say channel 6), no encryption, open system.
If it works, make it stronger (set the highest encryption available)
if it does not work, :
- upgrade your Orinoco card driver to the latest version available
- Upgrade your linksys to the latest firmware
Try again.
I assume that the DHCP server is configured and operational.

Your Orinoco is 802.11b card. Do you have enabled b standard on your Linksys or just g only. You need b/g mode enabled on your access point. Please note that 802.11b clients affect network performance for 802.11g clients when b/g mode enabled
