Orinoco wireless card issue w/ Linksys 2.4 ghz router

Hi,

I have a Orinoco 11 Mbit/s silver wireless card and trying to use it with Linksys 2.4 ghz wireless router, but in vain. Can someone please tell me what the issue is? Are there any compatibility contraints?
Wired configuration works fine, but it's just the wireless config that doesn't work.

Your Orinoco is 802.11b card. Do you have enabled b standard on your Linksys or just g only. You need b/g mode enabled on your access point. Please note that 802.11b clients affect network performance for 802.11g clients when b/g mode enabled

Hi,

I would suggest to try some simple things first :
- try a connection using simple parameters (Check SSID - note that it is case sensitive), force to a specific channel on both side (let say channel 6), no encryption, open system.
If it works, make it stronger (set the highest encryption available)
if it does not work, :
- upgrade your Orinoco card driver to the latest version available
- Upgrade your linksys to the latest firmware

Try again.
I assume that the DHCP server is configured and operational.

In the Wireless Settings in the router, make sure it isnt selected just for G, or Mixed (unless other G devices are present).

Also, double check your Advanced Wireless Settings>Authentication Type> and make sure the WIFI adapter matches (if using encryption, it is a common place to get stuck in)

Hi Rindi,

I tried all the suggestions as proposed by the experts, except upgrading Orinoco card driver, but nothing seemed to work. I am unable to find the latest driver for this card. If this is potentially the issue, then I guess it's better to get a new card.
