The Solution Rating System
|
|
| With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating. - The Grade of the Solution
- The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
- The Number of Author and Expert Comments
- The Number of Experts Contributing
- The Feedback of the Community
Your Input Matters Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site. If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support. Thank you! |

Asked by dbadger2007 in Wireless Networking, Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), DSL Lines / Cable Internet
We are a small therapy office who is trying to share internet access as well as some folders. I have one desktop in the reception area wired to a cable modem and Linksys router. This router connects to a second linksys router at the other end of the suite to ensure wireless access from the more distant offices. All computers are running Windows XP. Everyone is wireless except the reception area computer My goal is to have everyone (up to 12 computers) be able to access the internet, but only a subset of the group (5 computers) to be able to share folders, files and a high speed printer (atached to reception computer). I thought I could do this defining a WorkGroup that only the 5 computers are in and that appeared to work for quite a while. But recently, we are having days when the workgroup share drops out and is unavailable to anyone. I can see the workgroup members from the reception computer and I can ping them. But if I go to any of the workgroup computers, they can not see the reception computer or access its files even though I can still ping the reception computer. Most days internet access is still available on all computers, though not always.
We need a simple solution (cheap and easy to maintain) since we are therapists and NOT networking professionals. Any insights on how to solve this problem would be appreciated.
