Thanks! I modified the laptop.

Browse All TopicsHello,
I recently installed a D-link router as an access point and my computer connects to it just fine .....it only prompts me for the security passphrase.
However the other laptop which has an intel proset wireless card is asking for a device ownership password.....that it says should be located on the device.
I am not sure what it really is asking me for or why because the same laptop with the proset card connects to airports, other secure wifi connections only using the passprhase.
Is their anyway to make it connect.....like some kind of setting on the router or is this on the laptop side?
Thanks!

Try this on the problematic laptop:
Control Panel->add or remove programs-> Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software -> Modify -> Unmarked WI-FI PROTECTED SETUP
Otherwise the default password should be near the upc symbol on the router.
I believe you can remove the facility on the router for being prompted for this, but it would be quicker and easier to remove it from that laptop as per above.
