Dell Color Laser 3110cn - Adding new computer to wireless network
The mission: Add new Dell Latitude E-6500 to my perfectly happy wireless network that includes a Dell Inspiron 9300, Dell Color Laser 3110cn and HP 7410 AIO, all on static IP's.
The problem: The Dell 3110cn Laser printer.
I had no trouble at all setting this up in the first place. No trouble adding the Dell Laser to the wireless network when it arrived. Now, it's become a nightmare.
Leaping over hours and hours of frustration and every word I can find at Dell, I finally got the Dell laser to work from the E-6500, only to find that it has installed itself as a separate wireless network (dell_device / Ad Hoc / Channel 11) instead of part of MY wireless network (BS_DSL / infrastructure / channel 6.)
I don't know how it managed to do this, but this setup requires disconnecting from MY network/internet in order to connect to the laser printer. (The 7410 is working normally)
How can I get this printer to behave and join the network normally?

Finally I got the right settings to stick.
Apparenttly, the last time I configured it, w/o displaying its dell_device network in "available networks" it somehow retained that information.
I ran through the USB setup again, and successfully deleted that connection this time. It is working normally now.
I guess for other people to know - the Dell printers don't join the network like any normal, regular device. They have their own routine, and no other method will work.
Thanks for your help.

One more thing - to answer your question - there was no point where something went wrong. Everything appeared to be fine all the way to the end, including printng a test page. There was no issue with the IP addresses. I have 5 static IP's and the printer was manually assigned the same address it has always used.
